Lothians

The Lothians comprise three historic counties in eastern Scotland: East Lothian, Midlothian, and West Lothian. This region has witnessed significant historical events, including the signing of the Treaty of Edinburgh in 1560, which established Protestantism in Scotland. Edinburgh, situated in Midlothian, became Scotland's capital in the 15th century and later a centre of the Scottish Enlightenment.
